The Desktop Support Technician 3 provides exceptional, high-quality, professional desktop, laptop and office application support to the internal user community, including executive-level customers. This includes the deployment and troubleshooting of all hardware, operating systems, mobile device support and software applications supported by Desktop Support. This position exemplifies outstanding customer service skills when responding to customer problems received via a ticketing system, phone and email. This position partners with other Technology Services staff to troubleshoot issues outside of Desktop Support's immediate responsibility or skill set.
This role will require about 80% Mac troubleshooting. Prior Apple deployment and imaging experience is a requirement.
Job Description:
Works independently with a sense of urgency and exceptional customer service skills.
Provides technical assistance and mentoring to other members of the desktop support team where necessary.
Works directly with system administration and engineering-level peers to ensure stability of network and servers.
Provides daily written updates on status of current tickets, open issues and projects.
Performs desktop and laptop system deployments including hardware and software configuration primarily on Lenovo laptops and Apple computers.
Works proactively with Human Resources to on-board new employees and order hardware and software for those employees, and assists in the training and orientation of new staff in use of hardware and software.
Supports Outlook 2010-13 for Exchange and mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Blackberry Devices.
Assists users with establishing Polycom Video & Audio Conferences.
Responsible for accurate tracking of all assets supported by Desktop Support.
Performs troubleshooting of supported desktop operating systems and applications.
Interacts with vendors to facilitate repairs of hardware, i.e. printers, laptops and desktops.
Documents system problems and resolution for future reference.
Performs image builds for use on Apple systems.
Performs custom software distribution to Apple systems.
Manages backup of Apple workstations and laptops.
Maintains technical documentation related to the configuration of production components (i.e. hardware, operating system, applications, management tools, etc.) including installation and troubleshooting instructions for each.
Maintains confidentiality of company information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience (Required):
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and work history.
Mac: Minimum 3 years hands-on support experience with desktop support technologies including: MAC OS 10.X, iPhone, iPad and Apple Product exposure.
Windows: Experience with Windows XP Professional/Win 7, Outlook 2007/2010, Blackberry, Microsoft desktop applications, basic to intermediate level networking, and problem tracking software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, professional appearance, punctuality and a sense of urgency.
Must be detail oriented, a team player and have the ability work on multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Preferred (Highly Desired but not required):
Microsoft Certified System Administrator or equivalent certification.
Experience using Deploy Studio to create workflow-based deployment.
Experience creating custom packages and shell scripts using bash shell.
Experience supporting C-Level executives and executive assistants.

and Apple Certified Macintosh Technician certifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
