Position
Summary: This position is primarily responsible for representing the YMCA personally and in a professional manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA of Greater Boston. Position reports to Health & Wellness Director and Physical Education Coordinator. This position is also responsible for the planning and implementation of Josiah Quincy Upper School Physical Education curriculum, ensuring that the program participants receive a quality experience which maintains health and safety as a priority.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations.
Teach physical education classes to Josiah Quincy Upper School students.
Insure highest safety standards throughout physical education classes.
Engage in active listening with students in order to build relationships, understand individuals goals and interests, and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
Insure highest program quality through careful supervision of the assigned physical education group.
Supervise students while they are using equipment in Wellness areas.
Develop and implement special events and activities related to assigned program areas.
Maintain all program equipment and facilities.
Participate in regular staff meetings.
Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.
Attend YMCA, Collaborative and other meetings as requested by supervisor.
Maintain sound records relating to specific program areas: class attendance, grading and participation, physical fitness test data, junior and senior physical education participation data, and others as assigned by the supervisor.
Communicate program information, problems and concerns as they occur to appropriate supervisor.
Remain current in required and voluntary training in order to promote growth of body, mind and spirit and character values for all.
Position Requirements Candidate must have 1-2 years of experience in teaching physical education.
Commitment to the PE as an important element in a complete education.
Experience working with diverse populations in urban setting.
Creative coaching skills and the ability to implement a physical education program.
Desire to make a positive impact in children and teens.
Skills and Competencies/Know How:
Ability to interpret and carry out the mission and goals of the YMCA.
Results orientation with a sense of urgency and can-do attitude
Must have a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills.
Must possess excellent communication and human relations skills.
Ability to work as an integral member of the teamEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
