General
Responsibilities: This ESOL teacher is responsible for creating and implementing contextualized lesson plans utilizing DESE ESOL frameworks and College and Career readiness skills
Reponsibilities:
Teach ESOL to adults of diverse linguistic, cultural, religious, socio-economic and educational backgrounds
Integrate reading, writing, pronunciation, grammar, speaking and listening skills into thematic units involving health, community, civics, financial literacy and workplace competencies
Prepare and deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons
Collaborate with Education and Career Advisor to assist learners with setting and achieving personal goals
Outline teacher and program expectations to learners clearly
Assist with intake, placement, assessment, goal setting and capturing
Work collaboratively with staff on curriculum and program improvement through common planning, staff meetings and professional development
Conduct student assessments at regularly scheduled intervals to evaluate progress
Communicate classroom/student issues to Program Director in timely manner
Description of Administration:
Keep attendance records
Attend regular staff meetings
Assist with intake evaluations and assessments
Assist with curriculum development
Participate in staff development
Position Requirements BA or Masters degree in ESOL, Education or related field
Familiarity with DESE ESOL Frameworks curriculum helpful
Familiarity with learner-centered, goal-oriented participatory ESOL
Sensitive to socio-economic and ethnic minority issues
Strong communication and inter-personal skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Office, Navigating Internet including ESL websites)
Prepare and deliver engaging, learner-centered lessonsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
