The Hematology-Oncology Section at VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) invites applications for a full-time hematologist-oncologist with current experience to provide excellent patient care combined with teaching in both oncology and hematology. A demonstrated interest in clinical investigation is preferred. The successful candidate should be eligible for appointment as Instructor or Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS) or Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). The Hematology-Oncology Section serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care and is a major training site for fellows from BUSM-affiliated programs. The Section's faculty conducts basic, clinical and translational research in coagulation, multiple myeloma, and point-of-care precision oncology. Additional valuable resources include access to a large VA biorepository based at VABHS and the VA clinical trials network. The position requires U.S. Citizenship, M.D. with licensure, Board Eligibility/Certification in hematology and/or medical oncology. Current practice in hematology and oncology is strongly preferred. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Evaluation of physical, cognitive and emotional fitness of candidates for appointment in VA is required prior to appointment. Candidates must be capable of interactions with patients and health care personnel in a caring and professional manner. The candidate must be able to tolerate physically taxing workloads, to function effectively under stress, to adapt to changing environments, and to display flexibility. This position is a non-Bargaining Unit position. Selectee may be required to work at any Boston Healthcare System campus, as needed. Candidates who meet the qualification requirements within 15 calendar days following the closing date of the announcement will be considered. This position is in the Excepted Service. Drug Testing Position:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Market Pay). Permanent appointment in this position is subject to review by the Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) that will review the selected candidate's education and experience. Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
