Health Science Specialist

Duties include, but may not be limited to:
Organizes and coordinates all aspects of the clinical research study; Provides business input for development of study budgets; Designs and maintains study websites; Reviews participant informed consent forms for accuracy and validity; Works with internal data management teams to create Data Management Plan and associated study reports; Follows complex federal, VA, and Cooperative Studies Program regulations that govern clinical trials; Collects, organizes and analyzes data from various sources and in different formats to prepare reports; Submits weekly report to the Principal Investigator regarding progress and/or problems encountered in the conduct of the study; Assists in the preparation and management of various study meetings to include Data Monitoring Committees (DMC), Executive Committee (EC), planning, kickoff and annual meetings; Communicates orally and in writing to make presentations, explain recommendations, represent the agency and respond to inquiries; Performs other duties as assigned. This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 2 years). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4-year maximum). The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment. To qualify for this position, applicant(s) must meet the following Basic Education Requirement:
BASIC EDUCATION (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
Requires a bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. AND, in addition to the Basic Education requirement, applicant(s) must meet one of the following requirements:
SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Requires at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes assisting with day to day activities of clinical research studies; collecting and analyzing research data; preparing reports and presentations; performing duties associated with recruiting study participants. (Resume(s) must clearly support the experience in order to be creditable. We will not make assumptions.) -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
Requires successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with a major in an appropriate field (as described above) which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position to substitute for the one year of experience, is fully qualifying for the GS-9. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
A combination of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience as described above may be used to meet the total qualification requirements. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
