This position is charged to develop and lead a growing administrative team that manages and administratively supports ad hoc SCRR faculty panel reviews of allegations made under the HMS Faculty Grievance Procedures, including allegations under the Abusive and Intimidating Behavior Policy, the Unprofessional Relationships and Abuse of Authority Policy and the Anti-Discrimination Policy. The successful candidate will be responsible for intake of and assessment of new matters, including advising on informal resolution, staffing the review panels, overseeing and managing drafting and forensic support to panel members and for ensuring a fair and equitable process. The position will be responsible for taking the lead in developing policies and educating the research community, both on the HMS Quadrangle and at the affiliated hospitals, about the policies subject to SCRR review. He/She will collaborate senior leaders across HMS and at Harvard University, to align policy implementation and related university efforts to achieve measurable success in safeguarding the integrity of the academic environment. This position will also administratively support the ad hoc SCRR faculty panel review of appeals by medical and masters students of decisions that require withdrawal, dismissal or expulsion in accordance with the respective student handbooks. This position will partner with the Director for Research Integrity to ensure that HMS grievance procedures and HMS research misconduct proceedings jointly benefit from shared principles, procedural refinements and resources as necessary. In this portion of the role, the incumbent will also help support the HMS Standing Committee on Faculty Conduct and ad hoc faculty panels by providing oversight of a subset of assessments, inquiries and investigations of complex allegations of research misconduct against HMS faculty appointees, on an as-needed basis. This function will include drafting reports, collaborating with affiliated institutions to fulfill requests of the faculty review panels, and providing guidance to the Research Integrity Program Managers and Scientific Investigators, for those particular cases. The incumbent will develop and assist in further streamlining internal processes and collaborate across the administrative support team in developing systems to increase efficiency. This individual will also work closely with HR, the Title IX coordinators, the Ombuds Office, the Office for Gender Equity, the Office for Faculty Affairs, the HMS Dean's Office, the Office of the General Counsel, and other units to see school and unit priorities through to completion. Basic Qualifications Masters or other advanced degree required. Minimum seven years' experience in academic compliance with particular focus on management of highly sensitive material and cases. Additional Qualifications and Skills Advanced degree (science or law) and managerial experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated excellence in writing complex reports and operational success. Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of ten years' related experience, including management of diverse teams. Direct experience with federal regulations and research policies preferred. Extensive experience handling highly confidential and sensitive material. Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills essential. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, resourceful, able to lead a team of diverse individuals, collaborate openly with colleagues and able to work in a complex matrix environment at multiple levels of the University.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Education AdministrationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
