Job Summary Reporting to the Dean for External Education, with support and guidance provided by the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Technology defines and executes the Office for External Education's (OEE) technology strategy encompassing all business and educational technologies, data systems, platforms, and applications employed within and across the department. Job-Specific Responsibilities What you'll do:
Provide leadership and oversight for the development and direction of OEE's technology strategy and roadmap. Leverage current and emerging technologies, tools, and services to support high-quality learner experiences and improve internal business processes. Applications include Sales and Customer Relationship Management, Admissions, Registration and Payment, Student Information Systems, Learning Management, Education Technology, Customer Support, Content Management and E-Commerce Systems, and extensive reporting dashboards. Facilitate productive collaboration and communication between technology teams and customer-facing business teams. Collaborate with business unit leaders, as well as business development, marketing, and finance leadership across OEE to understand ways in which technology will support their business needs and existing processes and integrate those needs into technology roadmaps as appropriate. Collaborate with HMS IT, HUIT, and Harvard University schools regarding all technical projects and issues impacting the Office for External Education. Identify synergies, learn from their implementations, and evaluate new software and technology options. Represent OEE on technology-related councils and committees at HMS and HU, support school-wide technology planning in coordination with the HMS CIO and evaluate OEE's security strategy and standards. Create effective infrastructure for technology and business systems service that evolves to a shared service model across OEE. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the organizational structure and make recommendations for enhancements and improvements. Create culture to balance quality and process while maintaining speed and innovation. Recruit, motivate and retain high quality staff for the technology organization. Understand and communicate business objectives to the technical team. Define and communicate performance expectations, delegate assignments, manage workflow to support the evolving business needs. Develop and mentor direct and indirect reports. Manage in-house and outsourced teams, optimizing structure for cost, efficiency, and institutional knowledge. Enable greater business intelligence, analytics and data-driven decision making by linking disparate data sources. Oversee the OEE Technology team's work with internal stakeholders to identify the key business metrics to track and then develop reports, dashboards, and ad hoc queries to enable stakeholders to access and analyze data. Facilitate the effective functioning of the OEE IT Council, established to increase communications and operational efficiency across OEE. Oversee the prioritization of technology-related initiatives of the organization including the direction for software development, fault tolerant systems, disaster recovery, data collection, security and storage. Review and evaluate potential vendor products while also determining the business requirements for current and future needs. Provide oversight and best practices to assist the technology teams' product development methodologies, development toolkits (both Cloud and internal), integration platforms, as well as data and system security. Develop and apply comprehensive approaches to cybersecurity and risk management in concert with HMS IT. Develop and manage annual and capital (investment) budgets for technology, systems, and software. Analyze existing resources and expenditures and propose future spending for technology projects. Basic Qualifications o Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business, or related field. o 10
years of experience managing technology projects, business intelligence, enterprise software development and systems implementations in large-scale educational or similar environments. Additional Qualifications and Skills o Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities. o Collaboration and relationship-building skills. o Skills to provide both technical and strategic input on business needs and technology and systems integration. o Project management skills and the ability/flexibility to handle multiple projects simultaneously. o Ability to communicate, negotiate and thrive in a complex, matrixed, organization and to manage human and organizational dynamics. o Experience managing Salesforce (or similar) CRM and Digital Marketing systems. o Ability to utilize data science concepts and techniques. o Knowledge of data compliance laws and standards. (PII, PCI, GDPR, FERPA, COPA, etc.) o Experience with programming languages helpful. o Familiar with cloud service providers' offerings, such as Amazon Web Services, Gearset, OwnBackup, and ETLs. Additional Information This Staff role is starting as a remote position due to the COVID-19 pandemic and while the Massachusetts COVID-19 state of emergency restrictions are still in place. The current remote nature of this role is considered temporary and will change as the University continues to evaluate options. This position will eventually be based in Boston, MA with a hybrid schedule. Specific individual flexible work arrangements for this role can be discussed during the interview process subject to the departments' business needs. Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
