The In Vivo Pharmacology - Oncology group within the Department of Quantitative Biosciences (QB) is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow with expertise in cancer biology to join our Boston-based Exploratory Discovery team.
The successful candidate will have a track record of innovative and collaborative research, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.
They will be able to work independently but will also be expected to proactively collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines.
Primary responsibilities include designing and executing in vitro and in vivo preclinical studies to characterize the effects of our company's oncology drug candidates.
The candidate will present their data at internal and external conferences as well as publish their findings in a peer-reviewed journal.
The candidate will be an active participant in the positive and critical scientific dialogue that is necessary to progress our oncology drug discovery programs.
An ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the QB, Oncology, and Immunology groups as well as scientists from different disciplines will be essential for success.
Responsibilities:
Assessing mechanism of action of oncology drug candidates using in vitro assays and preclinical rodent models.
Harvesting and analyzing samples collected in preclinical in vivo studies to identify biomarkers in blood, tumors, and surrogate tissues using molecular methods including but not limited to:
flow or mass cytometry, in vitro immunoassays, qPCR, ELISA, or western blotting.
Independently plan and execute studies with the primary goal of presenting data at external conferences and publishing data, ideally in a high impact journal.
Communicate and present data clearly and concisely to the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
Be able to thrive in a team environment.
Required Experience and skills:
Experience with molecular biology techniques such as flow/mass cytometry, in vitro immunology assays (eg MLR, ELIspot, etc), ELISA, and/or qPCR is desired.
Some experience designing and executing in vivo animal studies including animal handling, blood and tissue sampling and data collection analysis and interpretation is desired.
Demonstrated ability to function and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience and skills:
Extensive expertise in cell culture and in 3D tumor models is highly desired.
Minimum education required:
Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD within one year in the field of cancer biology, immune-oncology, or similar discipline.
