A Director in the Specialty Commercial Credit Solutions Non-Profit Group is responsible for managing a portfolio of credit facilities for a wide range of client relationships in the non-profit sector.
This individual also leads the due diligence process for new financings, assists in deal structuring and partners with the business development team for the delivery and negotiation of credit solutions.
Owns the underwriting, approval and closing processes.
Responsible for proactive portfolio management (maintaining credit quality, accurate risk ratings, adherence to the banks credit policies) and helping the team achieve growth goals/profitability targets.
Primary contact for client communication.
Remains abreast of market, sector, and competitive trends.
Develops and delivers insights and points of view on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors.
Serves as an ambassador for the SVB Non-Profit Group as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
The Credit Solutions Director is accountable for all structuring, underwriting, closing and portfolio management for their teams assigned portfolio.
This includes allocation of the right resources and providing expert guidance across the business as well as direct engagement as appropriate in opportunities.
Oversees portfolio management for their assigned portfolio.
This includes allocation of resources to each borrower within the portfolio as well as to each opportunity in the pipeline, maintaining credit quality and profitability targets, direct engagement in situations as appropriate.
Actively leads efforts in structuring, underwriting, and closing of new business or in addressing borrowers within the portfolio for the right opportunities / situations.
Manages, trains and coaches Vice Presidents and Associates responsible for managing all aspects of lending/credit for client relationships.
Responsible for developing skills and expertise of others, including the development and retention of top talent for SVB, oversight and guidance, managing workload for the team, driving skills and career development for individuals, ensuring the development and retention of top talent, and delivering on scalability initiatives.
Leadership and expertise.
Leads development and delivery of insights on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors.
Engages actively with partners in Deposit Management, Wealth Management, Credit Administration, and others to ensure alignment of approach, alignment on credit appetite, operational efficiencies, and innovation of solutions.
Fosters seamless working relationships across vertical and horizontal teams.
Remains abreast of market, sector, and competitive trends, developing and delivering insights and points of view on loan types and credit / performance trends as well as opportunities to innovate on our solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 8 years underwriting and portfolio management experience OR a High School diploma or GED with 12 years underwriting and portfolio management experience.
Experience Preferred:
Extensive experience with credit analysis of and lending to non-profit organizations particularly private schools, charter schools and higher ed institutions.
Solid understanding of fund accounting for non-profit organizations and tax-exempt bond financing.
