SummaryThe Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a Master's prepared nurse with an area of specialization who promotes competent, compassionate and professional nursing care for patients/families across the continuum.
The role includes patient care, teaching, consultation, and research.
The CNS supports the independent nursing practice of professional nurses through collaborative, consultative, and role-modeling activities; identifies learning needs, develops and implements programs for staff and patient/families within the area of specialization; participates in research and performance improvement activities that positively affect patient care and patient care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Specialty clinical consultation and expertise is provided to professional nurses, patients/families, and the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Healthcare trends including new technology and research findings are identified and integrated into clinical practice to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Research related to specialty is promoted and participated in to meet established objectives.
Ethical issues are identified in nursing practice and staffs are guided in the application of ethical concepts to patient care issues.
Collaboration is provided with liaison/admissions and referral sources to meet continuity of care goals for patients with complex issues.
Learning needs related to the specialty are identified and programs are developed and implemented to address these needs for staff, patients and families.
Continuing education offerings related to the specialty are developed and presented.
Performance improvement and patient safety issues related to the specialty are identified and addressed.
Status reports on the progress of these issues are shared with all relevant stakeholders.
Active participation in hospital and/or network committees as assigned.
Maintains accountability for own development and learning needs.
Promotes culturally competent care Additional specialty responsibilities are assumed in accordance with established guidelines and objectives.

Education/DegreeRequired Masters Degree in Nursing required.
PreferredExperienceRequired Minimum 3 years of relevant professional practice in the specialty area.
Preferred Experience providing educational programs preferred.
LicensureRequired Current license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Registered Nurse.
PreferredSkills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.
g.
computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.
)Required Additional qualifications and or experience may be required based on specialty area National certification in the nursing specialty area preferred.
Computer proficiency required.
Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
