Job Description:
The RoleOperations Quantitative Research and Investments (QRI) is seeking a highly motivated data expert to build out data quality rules, investigate potential data quality issues, and work with both internal and external partners to correct data issues to ensure that all information required for the investment management process including positions, security data, pricing, risk, cash, NAV, performance, compliance, and vendor data are delivered consistently, accurately and on a timely basis, and supported.
This role is an opportunity for a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to develop substantial domain expertise in datasets that are central to the quantitative investment process, and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment that have an important impact on both quantitative research and our customers portfolios.
The Value You Deliver Contribute to the stewardship of data assets used in research and production of quantitative investment models Support the data certification effort, receiving new datasets and associated DQ systems from the Data Engineering team and exercising them to certify historical data and build knowledge of the dataset Independently respond to data quality issues in overnight feeds, enabling fast and seamless responses to upstream issues and insulating production and research from them Enable QRI s access to clean, timely and relevant data, working closely with key technology and business partners to correct data quality issues at source Support data stewardship services to help researchers consume new datasets and uncover value Analyze systems and processes to find efficiencies and improve accuracy and timeliness of reporting The Expertise and Skills You Bring Highly analytical with the ability to quickly comprehend large data sets, develop and implement the right quality controls for these datasets Highly proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet objectives independently, with great attention to detail and commitment to high-level goals Experience with vendor-provided data, including FactSet, Bloomberg, IBES, CompStat, S&P Global, Worldscope, Morningstar, MSCI, Reuters, IDC, Markit Experience with market risk data vendors, including BARRA, Axioma, Northfield, PORT is a plus Experience in security, company, portfolio, and index-level information used in financial industry Experience in SQL, Python, Snowflake and / or Oracle and related tools.
Exposure to DQ frameworks is a plus 2
years experience in data operations and/or support teams with a demonstrable track record delivering the value Bachelor s degree (or higher) in mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, finance, or another quantitative field Exposure to methods, tools, statistics, and best practices for autonomous and discretionary anomaly detection, and data quality workflow is a plus Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience working with both technical and investment teams Proven track record of working with complex data environments and associated technology and analytics infrastructure needed to support these environments Demonstrated ability to root-cause data quality issues in complex environments and work with other teams and data providers to correct issues at source Familiarity with creating automated processes to identify errors to ensure high quality of data to support the investment process Experience in documenting essential procedures and calculations, and validating data Investment Management business domain expertise across some combination of research, portfolio management, trading and investment operations The TeamThe Data Operations team is an integral part of the Quantitative Research and Investing (QRI) division in Asset Management.
QRI is responsible for the management and development of quantitative investment strategies and solutions while providing high quality quantitative, data-driven support to Fidelity s fundamental investment professionals, ensuring they have access to the most relevant data and advanced quantitative analysis.
The Data Operations team partners with and supports all the teams within QRI including Systematic Equity Strategies, Systematic Fixed Income Strategies, Quant Index Solutions, Embedded Equity and Embedded Fixed Income, and Advanced Strategies and Research Certifications:
