Description
Global Risks Solutions (GRS), Global Actuarial Product is looking for a Casualty Actuarial leader to advance the pricing sophistication and profitability of the line of business. This role will focus on building aligned pricing strategies and models for Casualty business written across the world. By leveraging the support of Business Unit actuaries and the Casualty Product organization, the successful Actuary will drive improved pricing and market sensing that results in profit and appropriate growth throughout GRS. Strong expertise in primary and excess Casualty pricing techniques is desired.ResponsibilitiesServe as the Actuarial partner and advisor to the Global Casualty team within the Office of Underwriting and Product Board to develop product strategiesInfluence key strategic decisions related to Casualty such as portfolio design, tolerances, underwriting guidelines and capital allocation Bring synthesized competitive intelligence and insights on leading indicators to support market cycle sensing and performance monitoringPartner with Business Actuaries to develop strategies around technical price and pricing tools Support Product Planning and associated strategic posturingChampion Casualty strategies with the relevant Actuarial teams, adjusting to local realities as neededWork with Casualty-focused actuarial leads within GRS businesses to translate global pricing strategies into local execution strategiesResponsible for integrated, GRS-level narrative across Pricing, Reserving, Planning, working with Actuarial teams to gather and synthesize information and insightsCreate and maintain a feedback loop between Business Actuaries, Reserving Actuaries, Office of GRS Underwriting, Product Board and other relevant functions
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree requiredInsurance designations desirableFellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) preferred, ACAS requiredTypically 0-2 years post-fellowshipMinimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible experience (typically 12 or more) in an actuarial role, some of which may include experience as an actuarial candidate taking examsRequires detailed knowledge of the operations and processes associated with the operational group and the other operational groups that support or depend on itStrong analytical skills with solid understanding of all casualty actuarial techniques, standards, and assumptionsThis position requires an experienced and knowledgeable actuarial viewpoint in a wide variety of actuarial subjects, and in company, industry, and regulatory practicesKnowledge should include data, methodologies, systems and platformsAdvanced to expert knowledge of specialized software, actuarial and statistical methods, tools, and the existence of programming languagesHighly proficient, as acquired through experienceAbility to learn as neededAbility to think outside of focus area and think cross functionallyAble to undertake new processes/analysis based on cutting edge research and technologies, within and outside the insurance industryFocus efforts on staying competitive in the marketAbility to grasp theoretical conceptsAbility to synthesize knowledge and apply to a specific business problemDemonstrated ability to exchange ideas and convey complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writingAbility to make decisions with incomplete informationAbility to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organizationAbility to give effective training and presentations to senior management and other groups
