Since its founding in 2016, Galehead has deployed its proprietary LandCommand technology and specialized upstream platform to develop more than 15 GW of solar, storage, and wind projects under active development by Galehead and its Downstream Partners including Tyr Energy Development, EDF, Clearway, Rev Renewables, Steelhead, Engie, and Longroad.
In 2022, Macquarie made a strategic investment providing growth capital for Galehead's platform and its development pipeline.
POSITION
Summary:
The GIS Engineer will be responsible for leveraging advanced geospatial technologies to analyze, manage, and visualize complex spatial data, enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting a range of projects.
This role demands proficiency in GIS software, spatial analysis, and data management, as well as a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
PRIMARY
Responsibilities:
Support and execute overall optimization and expansion of Galehead's geospatial capabilities via direct code creation and code management, measured by new capabilities delivered and/or processing time efficiency gains.
Support identification and prioritization of technical geospatial work with a focus on capabilities that improve Galehead's value proposition and/or customer experience.
Support database architecture performance and optimization.
Support, and explore new ways to monetize Galehead's geospatial tools, including entering new verticals.
Provide as-needed support for both technical and business issues related to geospatial tools and outputs, including coaching/training other team members, as needed.
Collaborate to develop new analytic data products Write and maintain a suite of automated data processes Bring your best stuff:

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to create reproducible data processes, products, and visualizations using Python and SQL (or similar).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience with open source geospatial processing tools including PostGIS (or other spatial SQL), GDAL/OGR, and/or Geopandas.
Communications:
Effective and thoughtful written and verbal communications.

Maintain focus and extract value from the high volume of opportunities through command of the mission and meticulous organization of information, communications, resources and responsibilities.

PREFERED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES Experience using Postgresql including complex analytic queries and performance considerations.
Energy industry experience.
Experience in software development practices including, but not limited to Git, Jira, Agile ogr/gdal postgres/postgis python - (pandas/geopandas) GALEHEAD CULTURE:
