Job Description General Summary
The Technical Manager is an integral member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team. They are responsible for supervising pharmacy technicians and other staff, and supervising and coordinating pharmacy operations, incorporating best practices, and emphasizing safety.
  • Provides leadership and staff development to technical staff (Pharmacy Technician Supervisors, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Interns, and Pharmacy Couriers) through education, training and consultation and performance review.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to plan, design, implement and evaluate workflows and recommend improvements to pharmacy operations.
  • Is responsible for overseeing the technician schedules, staffing plans, and daily work assignments in order to meet patient care and coverage requirements.
  • Serve as a positive role model and are responsible for holding staff accountable to a high standard of excellence.

. Additional Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitors and oversees technical operations of department for all dispensing areas ensuring compliance with departmental, regulatory and accreditation standards and guidelines.
  • Assists in selection of new personnel.
  • Maintains working relationship with Nursing and other Hospital departments in order to evaluate and resolve issues/problems related to medication usage, distribution and storage and monitor and ensure compliance with related regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and oversees provision of departmental technical staff training and education programs, including orientation, in-service and continuing education.
  • Monitors and ensures staff attendance, participation and completion of required Hospital and departmental programs.
  • Review and update designated manuals, policies and procedures.
  • Develops, recommends and implements changes in systems to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicates changes in policies/procedures and operations and ensures staff compliance.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of departmental quality assurance and performance improvement program.
  • Develops, recommends and implements quality standards.
  • Monitors data collection and prepares periodic reports in accordance with program requirements.
  • Prepares analyses and recommends and implements changes in systems, methods and procedures as indicated.
  • Maintains familiarity with federal and state laws, regulations and guidelines related to hospital pharmacy and helps to ensure BCH compliance.
  • Perform duties of Pharmacy Technician as needed.
  • Compounds, prepares, labels, and distributes medications under the immediate supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Participate in professional organizations, attendance at conferences and continuing education programs and other related activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively manage technical staff and to persuade and negotiate with peer level managers on issues and programs that impact assigned unit/department.
  • Work requires effectively dealing with conflicting views or issues and mediating fair and workable solutions.
  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well developed writing skills.
  • Ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel.
  • This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
  • More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.

Requirements
  • High School / GED
  • 7 years' pharmacy experience including two years of supervisory experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • The Technician Manager must be knowledgeable and proficient in all duties of a pharmacy technician including distributive, sterile and non-sterile compounding activities.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
