The TBM Council seeks a highly motivated training and Instructional Design Leader toadvance the organization's mission and vision.
With over 15,000 members and scaling fast, the TBM Council is a non-profit open ecosystem founded and underwritten by IBM.
The Council staff are full-time employees of IBM who manage all aspects of the foundation's operations, strategy, membership, events, certification, and standards, working in partnership with the TBMC board and community members.
The Training and Instructional Design Leader handles designing and developing new,engaging, and effective learning solutions and instructional experiences for the TBMCommunity to help our practitioners and executives achieve desired learning outcomesand to advance the TBM discipline.
To do so, this leader must become immersed in the TBM discipline and taxonomy and help make TBM and related certifications the global standard for technology professionals and a career designation.
The ideal candidate has worked with technical communities and knows how to translatecomplex concepts and frameworks into more simplified and inspiring educational content and classes.
This role must work across all levels of an organization and understand the development needs for everyone from C-level executives toexperienced practitioners to those new to the TBM discipline.
You will partner closely with all functions of the Council staff and leaders and practitioners across the TBM community, Apptio and IBM.
Your Role and ResponsibilitiesModernize and continuously evolve the Technology Business Management educational courses, certifications, and other learning opportunitiesCreate compelling experiences to increase awareness and participation in TBM training and certificationDesign and develop experiential learning solutions that support adult learning best practices, address needs identified in a job/task analysis, drive behavior change, and improve performance of TBM practitioners and their teamsFollow TBM Council branding guidelines and standards to ensure content is professional and consistentCreate and curate customer learning content using the latest technology and innovative techniques (especially via but not limited to scalable online delivery)Build and maintain valued relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners and vendorsDesign interactive courseware and video using adult learning theory that appeals to various learning styles and international audiencesUtilize various modern authoring tools to rapidly build enjoyable, positive learning experiences that are interactive, effective and technically functionalDevelop instructionally sound knowledge, skill, and job performance-based assessmentsEvaluate the business impact of the TBM Council learning programs through learning and performance metricsGain a working knowledge of the various functional and technological aspects of the TBM framework, taxonomy and other assets and practicesUnderstand and incorporate a TBM maturity model into the training, empowering community members and prospects to see how they fit into the TBM journeyMeet all milestones and final deliverables by deadlines; when delays do occur, work with the team to estimate, monitor, adjust, and proactively communicate revised deadlines as neededConduct training and educational webinars, being a model of TBM professionalism and inclusive trainingBe a mentor and coach to internal and external TBM trainers and certification partners on best practices in instructional design and enablement solutionsTake on other projects and responsibilities as neededRequired Technical and Professional Expertise5 to 10 years of experience at a high-tech, SaaS, or B2B company, ideally serving in roles across IT, operations, and product with experience managing training for a technical community idealExcellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills, requiring minimal supervisionStrong oral and written communication skills and diverse experience working with internal customers and stakeholders and external partners and community members in both live and virtual environmentsDemonstrated progressive related work experience in training or development, including instructional design for multiple professional levelsDeep experience designing and developing learning programs across delivery mediums and content types (mobile learning, e-learning, video, gamification, virtual learning, live simulation, and live classroom)Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseExperience working with technical communities a plusProven experience designing and developing scalable, engaging, online trainingDemonstrated experience working with industry recognized instructional design models preferredAbility to work in an ever-changing, project-driven environmentProven ability to clearly articulate complex concepts in simple termsExperience working with various Learning Management and Learning Experience Systems and virtual meeting management tools like Zoom and WebexAbility to travel up to 25%, including international travelKnowledge of TBM, FinOps and related disciplines a plusAbout Business UnitIBM Software infuses core business operations with intelligence from machine learning to generative AI to help make organizations more responsive, productive, and resilient.

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location.
Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws.
For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
