As the Senior BA, you will work with the project team to implement the product vision, supporting product development of new products and enhancements to existing systems in a particular area of HMH's business. You should provide best practice business analysis to gather, analyze and negotiate business requirements, producing high quality project deliverables that meet the program needs.

As Senior BA you will act as the key liaison between the business and technical teams, while building and managing relationships with business and technical functions and supporting your team do the same. You will facilitate collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams (including architecture, engineering, quality assurance, design, sales, marketing, finance and supply chain).


Responsibilities:

Project Support

  • Work with business and technical teams to define and implement project strategy and vision to deliver high quality products/features on schedule that meet customer needs with support from Lead analyst or Manager
  • Work with the business team to identify and elicit business requirements, the technical team to ensure feasibility to deliver quality high value features and the user experience team to deliver best practice design which meets customer requirements. Work with other groups to maintain consistency across programs and process and focus on business value delivery.
  • Provide business deliverables including user story backlogs and business process overviews and give input to sprint and release plans.
  • Support and contribute to communications with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, presented in the appropriate format.
  • Provide regular updates to the Lead Business Analyst or Manager of project status to feed into overall program view.
  • Utilize problem solving techniques and product capability knowledge to address issues within the project's capability to address.
  • Escalate any risks or issues to program leads.

Process and facilitation

  • Support or act as facilitator for main scrum ceremonies and workshops
  • Release planning and estimation activities with business and technical teams
  • Support business in prioritizing the product backlog
  • Support technical teams in sizing the backlog and the developing effort for the highest priority deliverables
  • Champion data driven decision making when prioritizing backlog

Quality

  • Contribute to end to end exploratory testing across dependent components and multiple scrum teams to focus on the true end user's experience, identifying dependencies or impacts which would not be known by individual scrum teams.
  • Support continuous user testing of the project by providing product and process knowledge and being point of contact within the team for queries and issues.

Senior team member

  • Support junior team members by providing knowledge sharing sessions and support on process and problem solving.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in a computer science, multimedia, eLearning or related field
  • 5
    years of experience in a similar BA role
  • Experience in defining business requirements definition for multiple simultaneous projects for large software applications
  • Solid understanding and prior experience leading teams with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g. JIRA and Confluence) for multiple simultaneous projects for large enterprise - wide software applications
  • Demonstrated experience delivering to product strategy and product roadmaps
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of a specialist area such as set of products
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and accurate
  • Ability to encourage team creativity and innovation
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven experience in analytical, research and problem solving techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to easily communicate to varying audiences of all technical and business levels
  • Passion for creating innovative technology solutions for students and teachers
  • Experience in working in and leading teams (including virtual teams) and mentoring more junior team members

Preferred:

  • Experience of Enterprise solutions (SAP, SFDC)

Physical Requirements:
Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
