Resource Specialist

The SEE specialist provides necessary support to help clients find, obtain, and maintain employment or education opportunities. The SEE specialist's responsibilities focus on working with clients to achieve their career or educational goals, providing one-to-one professional development workshops, providing ongoing supervision to overcome any difficulties at work/school, and consulting with the multidisciplinary team on client progress. The SEE specialist works closely with the entire treatment team, and will be directly supervised by the team neuropsychologist, the senior psychologist, and the team leader. The SEE specialist will facilitate and develop relationships with local business owners and educational institutions serving our clients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
The SEE specialist:
Coordinates with schools to initiate and develop individual education plans (IEP), with consultation from program neuropsychologist and treatment team
Ensures appropriate implementation of IEP services and accommodations
Assists families and clients in advocating for increased academic programming, when appropriate
Provides psycho-education to school staff and teachers, when needed
Assists with the identification of extracurricular activities and groups within the school setting
Serves as a liaison between the school team, treatment team, client and family
Develops workshop curriculum and provides 1-1 training for client's preparation for exploring/selecting an education program, completing applications, financial aid, mock interviews, requesting accommodations and ongoing support while in a program
Supports the transition to college
Assists with the identification of appropriate college and university setting for clients and families
Designs and maintains a database of colleges and universities with extensive resources that can support clients
Assists with the identification of community and academic support services within the college setting and connect clients to the Office of Disability
Assists with setting and achieving academic and social goals via executive functioning coaching and other strategies
Assists clients with the development of self-advocacy skills
Supports post-college transitions for job acquisition or professional schools.
Develops and maintains community relationships to assist in job tours, job placement, and follow-up for individuals
Works with clients to identify vocational/educational areas of interest, skills and abilities for use in appropriate job/school matches
Explores and matches clients served with job/school opportunities
Develops community networks to assist with procurement of appropriate job placements
Designs and maintains a database for clients and families of appropriate job placements
Develops workshop curriculum and provides one-to-one training for clients on professional development, resume and cover letter writing, applications, mock interviews and on-the-job coaching
Creates a safe learning environment and utilize positive reinforcement to motivate clients to learn.
Provides ongoing training, support and supervision to ensure required skills are acquired to maintain employment or active enrollment status
Reviews pros and cons of disclosure to the workplace and assess individual preferences
Offers to serve as a follow-along support/liaison to the employer in cases where the individual elects to disclose their work with the SEE
Identifies community resources where clients can obtain specific training and skills (e.g., Microsoft Office competency)
Assists clients with adhering to employers' and educational institutions' expectations; responds to issues of employer and persons served, as needed
Assists clients with navigating dress codes, workplace norms and job regulations
Tracks attendance, competencies and effectiveness of training workshops
Ensures accurate and timely documentation of all client career/educational placements, performance and functioning measures and other pertinent data; provides team leader with monthly reports
Provides psycho-education and training to employers regarding the strengths and needs of clients
Conducts annual employer satisfaction survey; maintains communication with employer and academic institution where client is placed for ongoing feedback
Works with the clinical team to assist in the implementation and/or evaluation of specific clinical interventions on school and/or work performance and functioning
Provides education and support to families during client's involvement with SEE specialist
Works collaboratively with team clinicians to develop sustainable approaches to teaching adaptive behaviors
Provides crisis intervention as needed
Participates in required SEE training
Performs other related duties as required
A SEE specialist must:
Have a Bachelor's degree (psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or related field) or high school diploma/GED equivalent and a minimum of one year of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with severe and persistent cognitive illness
Must be able to travel independently to locations in and around the metro- Boston area.

The SEE specialist must have the following skills and abilities:

Ability to maintain accurate documentation and necessary paperwork.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
A demonstrated ability to make appropriate, accurate judgments, including handling of emergency situations, and the cognitive ability to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities
The ability to work with and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, family members, employers, academic institutions and the clinical team
Demonstrated ability to set limits, to solve problems independently, and to appropriately protect confidential information
Knowledge of community employers and academic institutions
Demonstrated ability to monitor and report on a client's progress, challenges and status verbally or in writing as required
Demonstrated ability to interpret vocational rehabilitation evaluations and individual service plans and to conduct situational assessments
Demonstrated ability to market and outreach to employers and academic institutions

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
