Practice Manager

Under general supervision of theAdministrative Director and Clinical Director of the Renal Division, thePractice Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating andcontrolling the operation and activities of Renal Associates. Provides cross coverage, as a member of thePractice leadership team, to manage staffing and/or operational issues, in atime sensitive manner. Participate inprograms and committees as a representative of the department.
Provide direct supervision tosupport staff. Hire, oversee orientationand training, provide corrective action as necessary, evaluate performance,approve time off requests, interpret hospital policies and ensures adequatecoverage for areas of responsibility. Assign and prioritize workloads; evaluate and standardize officeprocedures and effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise. Ensure job descriptions are up to date andstaff understands expectation for themselves and other team members. Informstaff of inter and intra departmental policy and procedure changes. Responsible for mentoring any temporaryadministrative staff or intern who are engaged to assist in practiceoperations.
Manage the non-medical aspects ofthe delivery of health care:
practice strategic and business plan development,computerization, property management, new ventures, and the design, renovation,equipping and staffing of practice office space.
Efficiency of the financialaspects of the unit's front desk operations:
reception functions; copaycollections and timely submission of encounters. Serve as a liaison to the MGH/MGPO complianceofficer.
Operate as a practice Epic SuperUserensuring all staff and providers are trained appropriately, operateefficiently, and continue to work on optimizing usage of the electronicdocumentation system across the clinical practice. Oversees the EPIC cash drawer paymentreconciliation process for each staff member and initiates the generation ofthe Deposit Tool process. Establish andmaintain policies and procedures for EPIC scheduling to ensure continued useand integrity of system.
Collaborate closely with MGH andMGPO billing offices to ensure efficient billing practices at the deliverysite. Meet regularly with billingliaison.
Address practice access issueswith clinicians, managers, and support staff of departmental practices. Work with Customer Service and the PhysicianReferral Service to ensure consistency and quality of access. Evaluate no show and cancellation lists, waittimes, and other patient frontline quality of service indicators, providingtrend insights to practice leadership team.
Identify and evaluate the meansfor improving costs, distribution of personnel and work schedules. Make recommendations to AdministrativeDirector.
Act as timekeeper for thedepartment's payroll within Kronos, including the resolution of payrollissues.
Act as a liaison to other Hospitalunits or departments regarding security, safety, project management, finance,information resources, research, etc. Attend and participate in Hospital and Departmental committee meetingsas appropriate. Participate in webpagedevelopment and marketing initiatives as needed.
Ensure that the physicalenvironment is maintained. Establish andenforce fire and safety regulations for the units, following establishedprotocols, and ensure compliance with JCAHO, OSHA and MGH guidelines.
Respond to and resolve customercomplaints.
Work on special projects asnecessary or as directed by Department of Medicine Administration or physicianleadership of the Division.

BA / BS and/or 5 years ofpractice management
Must be able to workindependently, handle multiple priorities and simultaneous time deadlines.
A can-do, team oriented attitudeis essential, as is the ability to interact easily with physicians, othermanagers, and support staff. Effectiveinterpersonal / communication / organizational / analytical skills arecritical.
Good command of English language,including basic medical terminology
Ability to make decisions quicklyand independently.
Ability to take initiative and toexercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
Skill in providing support,directions and development to staff and delegating when appropriate.
Ability to attend meetings outsideof 9 am - 5 pm is required.
Able to handle sensitive andconfidential issues.
Demonstrate financial managementexperience.
PC experience; familiarity withMicrosoft Word and Excel, databases, and other systems.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
